To the delegates of the Southern Conference of Locals.
No action by the Appreciations Committee is proposed at this time.
Moving forward the committee would suggest some changes in focus and possibly a name change.
Rather than site appreciations of events that happened here at the
conference the committee would like the shift the focus to notable
events that are happening in your locals. This would provide
recognition for your local, and inspiration for other locals throughout
the conference.
In addition to the self reported data you were asked to submit this
year there would be an additional application. This application would
highlight activities in your local that you're most proud of. There
would be a list of categories which you could choose from or you could
define your own category. Here are some sample category titles:
“innovative use of technology”, “innovative partnership with
nonprofits”, “innovative partnerships with arts organizations”,
“how your local promotes live music”, “old ideas that are still
working”, Etcetera
The process will be easy. The application will either be a fill-form
attached to an email or data entered into an online
database.
The individual and local who submitted noteworthy applications would
receive certificates of achievement and a prize. (Prize value not to
exceed $10)
The committee's feeling is that we can recognize all the great things
that are happening at our locals, inspire other locals and have some
fun at the same time.
