2024 SOCO Credentials Committee Report

This report was presented by committee chair Sharon Montgomery, Local 65-699. A correction was made to the totals by IR Steve Begnoche, as Local 136 (Charleston, W. VA) had been inadvertently omitted from the list of locals.
AFM Southern Conference totals 32 locals, of which 22 are attending and 10 are unable to attend.
Attending are: 123 (Richmond), 125 (Norfolk), 148-462 (Atlanta), 161-710 (DC), 174-496 (New Orleans), 23 (San Antonio), 257 (Nashville), 342 (Charlotte), 375-703 (Oklahoma City), 389 (Orlando), 427-721 (Tampa), 433 (Austin), 444 (Jacksonville), 500 (Raleigh), 579 (Jackson), 618 (Albuquerque), 65-699 (Houston), 655 (Miami), 674 (Covington), 72-147 (DFW), 80 (Chattanooga), and 94 (Tulsa).
Unable to attend are: 256-733 (Birmingham), 71 (Memphis), 116 (Shreveport), 136 (Charleston), 297 (Wichita), 362-691 (Huntington), 447-704 (Savannah), 546 (Knoxville), 555 (Puerto Rico), and 777 (Gulfport).
As of conference time, 24 locals had paid (2 paid but were unable to attend) and 8 had not paid.
The conference registered 31 delegates (we were down 2 delegates—Blair Robbins and Russell Shores, both of local 433 in Austin, due to illness). It’s fantastic that out of 31 delegates, 14 were NEW DELEGATES!!
This year’s conference hosted 17 guests which included our AFM International officers (President Gagliardi, Sec/Treas Ken Shirk, and VP Dave Pomeroy), Rochelle Skolnick (Director of the Symphonic Services Division and Special Counsel), Antoinette Follette (Communications Director), and Gabe Kristal (Organizing Director). Four guests were new representatives of their locals, attending their first Southern Conference. Also attending and speaking were representatives from the Texas AFL-CIO.
In a point of personal privilege, Committee Chair Montgomery welcomed three guests from her home local 65-699—former President Lovie Smith-Wright, former Secretary/Treasurer Bob McGrew, and his wife Beverly McGrew. Each had been instrumental in the AFM, as well as the Southern Conference, for many years.
At the conclusion of the report, Chair Montgomery asked the members of the committee—Denise Turner, William Johnston, and Kendra Hawley—to stand and be recognized. She also thanked SOCO Secretary/Treasurer Apana for his hard work and superb attention to detail!
