2024 SOCO Diversity Committee Report
After correspondences with the Diversity Committee and an impassioned
90-minute discussion and exchange of perspectives, experiences and
visions from our committee and the entire conference, the committee
reports the following:
The issues of Mobilizing, Diversifying &
Buidling Leadership are all interconnected with the following common
themes, including, but not limited to:
- Empowering members
- One on one / Personal
Connections
- There often exists
fear of the unknown from members
- Accurate reflection
and representation between jurisdiction, membership & leadership.
- The constant need for
organizing
- The need to move
members to action
The harder we work in addressing these issues, the
more work we see there is yet to do.
The AFM does possess strong resources in support of
these issues and continues to add to these resources.
